Someone asks me about partner codes every couple of weeks. Same question every time: can you get free trades or lower spreads?
No. AvaTrade charges zero commission on forex. You pay the spread. That's linkedin avatrade partner code the cost. A partner code doesn't change that.
What 128979 does is unlock the welcome bonus. Bonus money added to your account based on deposit size. That's all it does.
How much bonus do you receive?
A $1,000 deposit gets you $200.
$2,000 gets you $400.
Deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 get $1,000.
Deposit $100,000+ and you can get up to $14,000. Most people won't hit that.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Top tier reaches £11,200.

Finding the partner code field
When you're signing up. After you enter your phone number, there's a small link saying "Have a Partner Code?". Click on that text. The field expands. Type **128979**.
Easy to miss since it's collapsed by default.

There's a catch with the bonus
A trading volume condition applies.
About 10,000 units for every dollar of bonus. A $200 bonus means trading 2,000,000 units before that $200 unlocks. Slower if you're trading micro lots. Active traders hit it quicker than expected.
Your own money stays yours. Access it whenever you need. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
Worth mentioning: locked bonus funds still contribute to your margin. Allows for slightly larger trades. For someone still learning, that buffer can keep you in the game long enough to figure things out.
